Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire boasts some of the finest food producers in the country and has widely become known as the “rural capital of food”.

The towns’ produce is enjoyed by food lovers both locally and nationally, and can be found around the country on the shelves of the giant supermarkets and prestigious stores; however Melton Mowbray did not have a dedicated cook shop.

In October 2006, the idea of my own cook shop grew. The objective of the shop was to be in keeping with the food and drink theme in which Melton Mowbray is marketed, by promoting the culture and ethos of preparing and eating locally produced food.

Kate’s Cook Shop officially opened on 2nd June 2007. The success of the business is largely attributed to the uniqueness of the shop and the service it provides to the town, whilst maintaining and promoting the ethos and heritage of its surrounding rural community.

The success of Kate’s Cook Shop was officially recognised in March 2008 when I won the Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Businesswoman of the Year award and in November 2008 when Kate’s Cookshop won 2 national awards for Britain’s Best Cookshop and Britain’s Best New Retail Business in the Britain’s Best Retailer Awards.

 In this “Aladdin’s Cave” of cookware, I believe we offer exceptional customer service, particularly with regard to product knowledge. We can offer both practical advice on the use of the equipment, but also helpful hints and tips of the products for use with different foods and recipes. The items sold are carefully selected on their effectiveness to make life easier.
